On Wednesday the 27th July Brighton Marina was getting into the Rio spirit for the opening of Las Iguanas on the newly developed outer harbour site. I headed down to the opening night to check out the new restaurant and joined a number of other local bloggers and writers for a cocktail fuelled fiesta.
We arrived on a rather pleasant Wednesday evening that showed off the marina in all its glory. Upon entering the new 135 seater Latin theme restaurant I was struck by the bright and colourful décor. They have really upped their game with this one in terms of décor in that it felt much fresher and more vibrant than some older Las Iguanas I’d been in before.
After taking our seats in a window booth we made a start on the cocktails. Las Iguanas brand new cocktail choices include ‘Hombre Bombre’ mixing Chivas Regal, Las Iguanas magnifica cachaça, pineapple juice & ginger syrup, and ‘Pisco Power’ that combines ABA Pisco, Funkin guava purée, agave, apple & lime juices. With 2 for 1 offers on their happy hour cocktails all day every day I went with an old favourite Long Island Iced Tea.
A few more cocktails later, including a make your own Caipirinha lesson, we tucked into some of the food. Ribs, steaks and Brazilian inspired curries feature on the new look menu plus churros to finish. Food finished and a couple more cocktails later with photo opportunities complete we headed home after what was a very enjoyable evening.
